THE SPECIAL EDITION & The Bantam Picture Books

In the early 1940s Noel Carrington published the Bantam Picture Books, a small format series of  lithographed books for children. Enid Marx, Richard Chopping, Betty Swanwick, James Holland and Arnrid Johnston were amongst the artists who contributed to the series. Now, as an homage to these scarce 1940s books, the cream of the contemporary artists working in the field of illustration and printmaking have been commissioned to produce a 'modern Bantam'. The five artist/illustrators are Emily Sutton, Jonny Hannah, Alice Pattullo (whose Bantam Counting Book is previewed below) , Tom Frost and Liz Loveless. The books have been produced in a limited edition of 125 numbered and signed copies and the set will only be available with the Special Edition of Noel Carrington, Nothing Need Be Ugly.
