Rena Gardiner’s Portrait of Dorset is her masterpiece. Written, drawn, lithographed and bound for friends in 1960 it was only published in 30 copies. It is now available again in two collectors editions, of 600 copies, and a further 150 Specials. The book is 190 pages, 200mm (h) and 255mm (w) and printed on 140gsm uncoated Fedrigoni Arena paper, bound in Winter’s cloth, with an debossed label, and wraparound dustwrapper, It is published on 13th April, but available to pre-order now.
The Special Edition comes with a handmade slipcase by Ludlow Bookbinders, cloth covered, with a debossed label, and also with two of the cards that Rena Gardiner designed for the Thomas Hardy Society and a local church. The cards are reproduced from originals and each numbered. There are 150 Specials (140 for sale)
There will be a special launch event at The Artworkers Guild on Wed 12th April, with Martin Andrews giving an illustrated talk on her life and work. Tickets via Eventbrite.
